The Library

The Priory’s new library was created as part of an extensive programme of refurbishment works carried out in 2019.

Since then the entire collection has been re-catalogued and this is now accessible online.

Whilst covering the broad spectrum of theological topics, we are also specialising in the study of spirituality and religious life.

In addition, we hope in due course to develop a new library and study centre, here at the Priory, in order to house the Kelham library that was at St Michael’s Priory, Willen, and also provide a centre for the proposed new Institute for Anglican Religious Life.

We hope that our library provision will become a useful resource for students, guests, visitors and others who may be taking courses through the Priory or are simply interested in theology and spirituality.

In an exciting new development we are setting up an Institute for Anglican Religious Life, here at the Priory.

The aim of the Institute will be two-fold. First, to ensure the preservation of the legacy of Anglican religious life and, second, to be a resource for the future development of religious life.

Our new programme of speaker events comprises termly research seminars,  held in partnership with the University of Durham’s Centre for Anglican Studies, as well as other one-off events such as book launches. See the Programme here.
